Three Identical Strangers and The Final Tablewere among the projects recognized at the 71st annual Director’s Guild Awards (DGAs).

The DGAs honor outstanding directorial achievement in feature films, documentary, television and commercials each year. The 2018 winners were announced Feb. 2 during a celebration at Hollywood and Highland’s Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.

Three Identical Strangers‘ director Tim Wardle won the documentary film DGA for his blockbuster portrait of three identical triplets separated at birth and reunited as adults.

The other nominees in the documentary category were Morgan Neville’s Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, on the late children’s entertainer, Fred Rogers; Ramell Ross’ Hale County This Morning, This Evening; Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin’s climbing doc Free Solo; and Betsy West and Julie Cohen’s portrait of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in RBG.

Russel Norman took the reality programs award for the “Japan” episode of Netflix’s The Final Table. Norman’s directorial team included associate director Carrie Havel, lead stage manager Jonathan Marks and stage managers Daniel Curran and Mickel Picco.

Norman was up against Neil P. De Groot for Better Late Than Never, “How Do You Say Roots in German?” (NBC); Eytan Keller for Iron Chef Gauntlet, “Episode 201″ (Food Network); Patrick McManus for American Ninja Warrior, “Miami City Qualifiers” (NBC); and Bertram van Munster for The Amazing Race, “It’s Just a Million Dollars, No Pressure” (CBS).

These were Wardle and Norman’s first DGA nominations.
